Kyle Tucker Named NL Player of Week
Kyle Tucker has been on fire lately, hitting his first home run at Wrigley Field on Sunday against the Padres in what ended up being a disappointing loss. His hot hitting was enough to lead the Cubs to a 5-1 record on the week, however, and it earned him National League Player of the Week honors.

Tucker leads the NL in home runs (5), runs batted in (15), runs (13), hits (15), OPS (1.202), and fWAR (1.1). The right fielder had a .391 average last week, hitting three longballs over six games. He drove in eight runs and scored 11 times.
When the Cubs acquired Tucker in December, everyone wondered whether an extension was possible. While contract talks are still taking up a lot of headlines, it’s nice to see that he’s been worth every penny the Cubs have paid him so far.
The Cubs’ most recent POW before this was Michael Busch, who won the award in September of 2024.
