Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/25/23): Hoerner Leads Off, Ríos at 1B, Elias Starting

Update: New tires being installed now, let’s just hope Hoerner’s arm gets better quickly. He has been scratched again due to left biceps tightness, but the Cubs say it’s just precautionary. Here’s the new lineup…

I’m hanging out at a rest stop in central Alabama waiting on a tow truck because we blew a tire, so pardon the abject lack of effort here. The Cubs are winding down their Cactus League slate and the lineups will take on a few different looks as the decision-makers put the final touches on the roster.

Nico Hoerner leads off at second base, followed by Edwin Ríos batting second at first base. Ríos looks like a really nice pickup and could end up providing a great bridge this season. Patrick Wisdom is in left, Yan Gomes is catching, Mike Tauchman is in center, Nick Madrigal is at third, and Chris Morel is in right. Miles Mastrobuoni is at short and Zach McKinstry is the DH.

Roenis Elías makes the start in this one, which has an early first pitch at 2:10pm CT on Marquee.
