Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/8/21): Happ Leads Off, Hoerner at SS, Davies Makes Second Start

Ian Happ leads off in center for the Cubs’ tilt with the Rangers Monday afternoon, followed by Anthony Rizzo at first and Kris Bryant batting and playing third. Joc Pederson is in left, Javy Báez is the DH, and David Bote is at second. Nico Hoerner handles short, Ildemaro Vargas is in right, and P.J. Higgins is the catcher.

Zach Davies will be on the mound for the second time this spring and we should start to see his outings stretching out a bit. He went two innings and struck out two with one walk and no hits or runs in his first effort. A lot of people are sleeping on him, but he’s been a really good pitcher throughout his career and could open a lot of eyes with a strong performance in a contract year.

Penciled in to follow Davies in this one are Joe Biagini, Rex “Body Shop” Brothers, Trevor Megill, and Kohl Stewart. There could obviously be more, but that relatively small group of relievers also indicates a longer start.

First pitch is at 2:05pm CT on Marquee Sports Network.
