Anthony Rizzo Wins Fourth Gold Glove

While most of America is paying attention to events that will shape the direction of our nation, the Rawlings Gold Glove awards were being announced. Guess it’s a good thing there weren’t actually any votes to be tabulated, since this year’s winners were determined solely by their ranking in the SABR defensive index.

Anthony Rizzo was the top first baseman in the NL, thereby laying claim to his fourth Gold Glove and becoming the fifth Cubs player in history with at least that many. He’s got a long way to go to catch Ryne Sandberg, but maybe the Cubs will see fit to extend him and give him that chance.
