After Being Robbed Last Year, Javy Báez Wins First Gold Glove
Javy Báez was robbed of a Gold Glove last season despite leading all MLB infielders with 19 outs above average and tying for first among all shortstops with 26 defensive runs saved, so removing the human element of the vote helped him this year. He won the Fielding Bible Award at shortstop last week and was awarded his first Gold Glove Tuesday.

Javy becomes just the third Cubs shortstop ever after Ernie Banks (1960) and Don Kessinger (1969-70) to win the coveted award, which is pretty incredible when you consider the team’s long history. This is well deserved and could very well be the first of many, even if it should be the second of many.
