Chicago Cubs Lineup (8/17/20, Game 2): Tyson Miller Debuts as Nightcap Starter

The Cubs have lost four games in a row after scoring just one run and dropping the first half of today’s doubleheader. Now they’re looking to right the ship behind a young man making his MLB debut. Fun!

Kris Bryant leads off at third base, followed by Anthony Rizzo and Javy Báez. Kyle Schwarber is  in left, Willson Contreras is the DH, and Ian Happ is in center. Jason Heyward is in right, Victor Caratini is catching, and Jason Kipnis is at second.

Now let’s just hope no one is scratched from the lineup at the last minute.

Tyson Miller has a boatload of potential if he learns how to really pitch instead of just relying on his stuff. He can manipulate his four-seam well, his slider is very dangerous, his change is developing, and he’ll mix in a knuckle-curve that wasn’t there for him early on as a pro. For him to succeed at the highest level, he just needs execute by missing the right way.

If that sounds odd, I mean keeping the slider close enough to get swings and avoiding the need to pipe a fastball. He’s got that ability, now it’s a matter of having the confidence to do it at Wrigley.

The game will be carried by Marquee Sports Network and 670 The Score.
