Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (Simulated Game 75): Cubs 11, Mets 3 – Cubs Crush Mets for 50th Win

The Chicago Cubs (50-25) were clearly able to get their recent hot streak through customs, returning from London to complete an impressive three-game sweep of the Mets at Wrigley Field Thursday. The home team was able to win the final game going away thanks to an impressive power display, via MLB 20 The Show.

The Cubs got to Steven Matz in the bottom of the 3rd inning. It started when Kris Bryant singled with two men down to bring up David Bote, who jumped on the first pitch he saw and blasted a two-run homer to left.

Bote kept rolling with a solo shot in the 5th and Javy Báez mashed his own dinger to center to make it back-to-back jacks. Former Cub Brad Brach relieved Matz, allowing a run-scoring triple to Willson Contreras and a RBI double to Ian Happ to make the score 6-0.

Yu Darvish cruised through six innings before running into some trouble in the 7th. Eduardo Nuñez hit a solo homer and two batters later Jeff McNeil smoked a two-run shot to right to cut the lead in half. 6-3 was as close as things would get for the Mets, however, as the Cubs exploded for five in the 8th.

Happ and pinch-hitter Kyle Schwarber each hit a solo bomb before Anthony Rizzo destroyed a three-run tank deep to right field. New York went down quietly in 9th to seal the 11-3 victory.

Notes: The wind blowing out clearly helped, but six Cubs homers is impressive no matter what the conditions are. Bote continues his good work against lefties, expect to keep seeing him start in these spots.
