Cubs Settle with Willson Contreras for $4.5M
Willson Contreras has avoided arbitration with an agreement on a $4.5 million deal. That’s exactly what he was projected to earn and doesn’t hurt the Cubs in their efforts to respect the CBT threshold. Contreras has been mentioned in trade rumors this offseason, largely due to his low cost and three remaining years of control, so this will do nothing to quiet the talk.
$10M for Javier Báez to avoid arbitration, per a source. @JeffPassan first. Cubs can still talk extension with Javy. This just locks in his 2020 salary.
