Cubs Trade Rumors: Dodgers Could Pursue Kris Bryant Once Grievance Decided
Nearly all the reports circulating about interest in Kris Bryant to this point have come from the NL East, with to teams in particular featuring heavily. But lurking in the background are the Dodgers, who’ve been linked to Mookie Betts and Francisco Lindor this winter as well. It’s hard to imagine LA landing more than one of them, but continually failing to win it all despite several years of divisional dominance has bred a little desperation in Chavez Ravine.
Ken Rosenthal discussed that on MLB Network Monday morning, even adding Nolan Arenado and Josh Donaldson to the mix. The former is unlikely because the Rockies don’t want to trade him within the division and the latter may be a no-go due to either age or the requisite time commitment, but there’s another third baseman they could target.
“And one more to throw at you: Kris Bryant, who is awaiting the resolution of a service-time grievance,” Rosenthal offered. “And once that is resolved, once we know whether her is under control for one more year or more likely two, then the Cubs probably will get more active in the discussions about him.”

We heard recently that the Cubs’ asking price for Bryant is “a joke” and that other teams are picking apart his flaws in an attempt to devalue him, all of which makes sense given the situation. The Dodgers, however, have a wealth of young talent and could be best suited to meet that price. Rosenthal said they “still have a big move left in them,” so it may simply be a matter of which superstar they can pry loose.
