Joe Maddon Explodes on Clint Hurdle, Pirates
Javy Báez was buzzed by a Jordan Lyles pitch up near his head, not the first such pitch to a Cubs hitter today, and Joe Maddon had seen enough. Joe West tossed Joe Maddon before it was clear to viewers what the objection was, but once the Cubs skipper emerged from the dugout it was clear his ire was directed at Pirates manager Clint Hurdle. Joe had to be restrained from heading toward the Pirates dugout, and it was clear he was sick and tired of his players having pitches repeatedly thrown near their heads.
*And as I type this David Bote was hit in the head with a pitch…Not hard to see why Joe was so upset.

Jordan Lyles has thrown a ton of pitches up and in today. The latest hit the knob of Javier Baez's bat, quite possibly what set Joe Maddon off. pic.twitter.com/wTrhjlOHl1
