Rizzo, Schwarber Spend Weekend Giving Back
While we wait for the MLB hot stove to heat up, a couple Cubs were busy this weekend with their respective charities.
Anthony Rizzo was back in his hometown of Parkland, Florida for the 6th annual Walk-Off For Cancer put on by his charity, the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation. This year, an event-record $960,000 was raised for families battling cancer. Rizzo was even joined by a few of his 2017 Cubs’ teammates, Jon Jay and Rene Rivera.

Meanwhile, Kyle Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes program made it’s first three donations this weekend, giving $25,000 each to Ignite the Spirit, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, and the Fischer House Foundation. Schwarber recently raised over $280,000 for the program at his inaugural Block Party in Chicago.
Today was a great first step in the Neighborhood Heroes program. Made our first 3 donations today! It was a true pleasure to donate to these charities! It wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the very generous people who helped along the way! Thank you all! #NeighborhoodHeroes pic.twitter.com/F6Tndt2AuK
