Cubs Roster Update: La Stella Recalled, Zastryzny Optioned to Iowa
Well, that didn’t last long. Rob Zastryzny was recalled by the Cubs on Friday, as Addison Russell headed to the DL. He got some quality dugout time before being shipped back to Iowa. At least he got to hang with his fellow World Series champion teammates for a while and reminisce about the old days. You know, when he was on the roster of the team that won it all. Less than 12 months ago.
Veteran infielder, Tommy La Stella was recalled in a corresponding move by the Cubs. The team’s bullpen was stretched during their series against the Diamondbacks, so bringing Zastryzny up to offset the taxed ‘pen made perfect sense. With the Cubs heading on a west coast swing starting on Monday, and the fact that they’re already short an infielder with Russell on the DL, it makes the call up of TLS a no-brainer.
