Watch: Eddie Butler Has Sleeves Cut Off Prior to Start

The last time we heard about an issue involving a Chicago starting pitcher, throwback jerseys, and cutting, it resulted in Chris Sale being sent home. Eddie Butler’s issue wasn’t actually with the jerseys the Cubs were wearing — an homage to the Leland Giants of the Negro Leagues — but rather with the sleeves of his white undershirt that wouldn’t stay concealed under the jersey.

For those of you wondering what the big deal is, the white of the sleeves could potentially obscure the hitters’ view of the ball out of Butler’s hand. In any case, this was just another part of what had already been an exceedingly weird 1st inning.
