Chicago Cubs Lineup: Zobrist Back in Right Field and Batting Leadoff, Jake Arrieta on the Hill
Ben Zobrist has been out of the lineup the last a few days with neck soreness, but he’s back today and batting leadoff for the Cubs as they take on the San Francisco Giants at Sloan Park at 3:05 PM CDT.
Joe Maddon’s giving Kris Bryant the day off, or maybe he’s just giving Tommy La Stella one last shot to make the roster. I doubt the latter is true since I’m assuming Maddon has made up his mind on who will be filling that last spot on the bench. With the rumors bouncing around that the Cubs are shopping Matt Szczur, it’s safe to say this decision is not likely an easy one. Best case may be seeing Szczur traded to a team where he can play everyday — he deserves it — and keeping a lefty contact bat on the pine.
Jake Arrieta will be on the mound today for the Cubs and, perhaps more significantly, his bat will be in the lineup hitting eighth. You did see that monster home run he hit the other day, right?
