Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Reds: Sept 19, 2016 – Hammel Pitching, Contreras Catching

Jason Hammel (14-9, 3.60 ERA) will be pitching tonight as the Chicago Cubs (94-55) go up against the Cincinnati Reds (63-86) at Wrigley Field. Hammel has been dominant at Wrigley Field this year, winning his last six starts at home and boasting a 1.77 ERA at the Friendly Confines this season. That contrasts to his road ERA of 5.33.

Tonight’s lineup is mostly regulars with the exception of Chris Coghlan in left field and Willson Contreras behind the plate. Although you could make the case that Contreras is becoming a regular, with Montero and Ross in the mix it’s really more of a three-headed monster for the Cubs at the catcher position.

If you think tonight’s lineup looks a lot like yesterday’s lineup, you’re right. Coghlan and Contreras are the only two players that didn’t start yesterday. In case you missed it, check out our Series Preview with more information on this three-game set against the Reds.
