Chicago Cubs Lineup: Lackey on the Mound, Montero DH, Baez at Shortstop

John Lackey (9-7, 3.36 ERA) will toss the biscuit for the Chicago Cubs (90-50) today as they go for their second straight win over the Houston Astros (74.67).

The Cubs magic number is seven games. With a win today it would fall to six games, and possibly five if the Cardinals get tripped up. If it gets to six or less by Sunday, the Cubs can lock up the Division in St. Louis early next week.

Joe Maddon is sitting both Addison Russell and Ben Zobrist today. Starting in their place will be Javier Baez and shortstop and Tommy La Stella at second base. Joe’s done a great job rotating and resting guys all year. This crew will be ready come playoff time.

Here’s today’s Chicago Cubs lineup.
