Roster Update: Cubs Activate Hector Rondon; Kawasaki, Almora, Patton Recalled & More
The Chicago Cubs have made several roster moves now that the major league rosters have been expanded to 40 players on September 1. Several moves were made last week and now a few more moves were made today. There’s been enough now to be able to summarize all the activity in one post.
September 1:
- Joe Smith was activated from the 15-day DL
- Chris Coghlan was activated from the 15-day DL
- Jake Buchanan was called up from Iowa and added to the 40-man roster
- John Lackey was activated from the 15-day DL
September 6:
- Hector Rondon was activated from the 15-day DL
- Munenori Kawasaki was recalled from Iowa
- Albert Almora was recalled from Iowa
- Spencer Patton was recalled from Iowa
- Tim Federowicz was selected from Iowa and added to the 40-man roster
#Cubs also recalled RHP Spencer Patton and selected the contract of catcher Tim Federowicz from @IowaCubs.

To make room for Federowicz on the 40-man roster, RHP R.J. Alvarez has been designated for assignment.
