Tommy La Stella Activated off DL, Joel Peralta Designated for Assignment
Tommy La Stella, who went on the DL on June 9th, has just been activated by the Chicago Cubs and is in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds. La Stella was in Iowa on a rehab assignment since the end of June.
Joel Peralta, who was signed by the Cubs in June and then called up to the major league squad on June 27th, has been designated for assignment. Peralta pitched in only five games for the Cubs and looked completely unimpressive doing so, posting a 9.00 ERA as he gave up four earned runs over four innings pitched.
The move takes the Cubs pitching staff from 13 to 12 pitchers.
