Chicago Cubs Lineup: Hammel Goes for Series Split Against Marlins, Contreras in Left Field

Jason Hammel (7-3, 2.55 ERA) will be pitching tonight as the Chicago Cubs (48-25) try to earn at least a split in the four-game series against the young, up and coming Miami Marlins (40-35). The Marlins have turned out to be a surprisingly tough foe and are only three games behind the Washington Nationals, who lead the NL East.

Ben Zobrist is leading off tonight while Jason Heyward fills in at center field, the position he was originally slotted for when he signed with the Cubs. Of course that was before the surprise return of Dexter Fowler.

Willson Contreras will get his second straight start in left field, so it’s like he’s turning into a replacement for Kyle Schwarber, at least until Jorge Soler returns and then, who knows.
