Chicago Cubs Lineup: Arrieta, Cubs Looking for Sweep Over Dbacks

The Chicago Cubs (39-15) will take to the diamond today searching for their seventh series sweep of the year and 13th series win. An impressive feat at this early stage of the season. They have only four series losses so far and in each of those series they’ve managed to win one game (i.e., no sweeps).

DSC_0100 (1)Jake Arrieta (9-0, 1.56 ERA) is the right guy to hand the ball to if you’re looking for a win. And while the last time he pitched the Cubs lost, he still threw a two-hitter thru seven innings. The Cubs will be looking to give Jake the type of run support he’s gotten all year, first in the majors at 7.36 runs per game.

Anthony Rizzo gets a rare day off and Kris Bryant will dutifully fill in for him at first base. Javier Baez will cover for Bryant at third. Matt Szczur fills in for Jason Heyward in right field.

Joe is sitting both Rizzo and Heyward on a day that makes sense to rest them, going up against a lefty.
