Myrtle Beach Pelicans First Pro Team to Offer Buckets and Growlers of Beer

We’ve all been there: You offer to get a round for your buddies at the game and you wait in line only to be foiled by the two-beer limit. Argh. So you hit up another counter or you make two trips, probably spilling suds on your duds and missing more of the game than you’d like. Well, that will no longer be a problem for the hopheads at TicketReturn.Com Field in Myrtle Beach.

If you’ve been reading Cubs Insider for a while, you probably already know that I am really fond of the folks on the Pelicans’ staff and that I like to brag on them from time to time. But I assure you there’s no bias involved when I say that their recent move to offer buckets and growlers to fans at the game is probably the best ballpark promotion/feature of all time. Okay, maybe there’s a little bias there, but…growlers! At. The. Game.

From the team’s official press release:

Already boasting a lineup of more than 20 craft beers at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are partnering with American Tap House for an exciting addition to their craft beer options at the ballpark. Beginning with the club’s next home contest on Friday, April 29, fans will be able to purchase beer buckets and growlers during each game at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, making Myrtle Beach the first professional team to offer those options in-house.

“I am looking forward to seeing beer buckets and growlers throughout the stadium and community this season,” said Pelicans vice president of business development Ryan Moore. “These type of offerings would not be possible without the great partnerships we have with the American Tap House and Better Brands. It’s great when multiple partners can come together with one goal in mind: To make the fan experience at TicketReturn.Com Field the best in Minor League Baseball.”

The souvenir buckets, featuring the Pelicans and American Tap House logos, include any five of the Pelicans’ wide assortment of 12 oz. craft beer for just $30. Souvenir beer growlers are only $25, with fans again being able to select from the craft beer lineup at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Growlers can be refilled for $20 until alcohol sales end at the conclusion of the seventh inning.

Even without the option to consume mass quantities, I’d recommend a trip down to the Beach to see the Cubs’ advanced-A affiliate. The ballpark is awesome and has a wide variety of concessions (the chicken ‘n waffle bites are amazing), not to mention several little touches that give it the feel of a mini Wrigley (sorry, no stale urine smell though).

Oh, they’ve got some darn good prospects down there too.
