Pregame: Cubs Look to Close Out Rockies, Lester Seeking Second Win, Baez at Shortstop

Today’s game will close out the Cubs’ first home stand of the year. It’s been an incredible past few days for me. Since I arrived in Chicago on Wednesday I’ve attended every game and it’s been a blast. The weather has been incredible, as it is again today, the Cubs have played great baseball, with the exception of Friday’s loss against the Rockies, and the people, as always, have been so fun to talk to and just be around. Cubs kingdom, you truly are the best!

Jon Lester will be pitching today for the Cubs as he goes for his second win of the year. Javier Baez, who played in his first game yesterday after returning to the lineup from the DL, will be playing shortstop for Addison Russell who gets the day off today. Jason Heyward is back in the lineup today after sitting out yesterday. And, of course, David Ross, Lester’s personal catcher, is behind the plate.

Sit back and enjoy a beautiful day out there if you’re heading to the ballpark. The Cubs are trying to win their fourth straight series to start 2016 and it should be a great game.

Here’s the lineup:

Jon Lester (L) vs. Rockies – Tyler Chatwood (R)
1. Dexter Fowler (S) CF
2. Jason Heyward (L) RF
3. Ben Zobrist (S) 2B
4. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
5. Kris Bryant (R) 3B
6. Jorge Soler (R) LF
7. Javier Baez (R) SS
