I Have Much to be Thankful For
I love Thanksgiving. For a while there, my enjoyment of it was muted by a retail job that had me showing up to work at 3am on Black Friday. Rather than giving thanks, I was cursing the hoards of people who camped out to get the best deals and the flipped out when they were too late to get them. But those days are long gone and my ability to appreciate who and what I have around me has increased ten-fold.
It’s not hyperbole to say that I could go on for quite a while writing about all the things I’m thankful for, but I think we’re all better off getting back to our families or our leftovers or our football games. That said, I’ll try to be succinct here.
I’m thankful for my wife’s understanding, my daughter’s smile, and my son’s laugh, for my family, my friends, and my readers. I’m thankful for the compliments made and the critiques not, for the tongues both wagging and held, and for the takes of varying temperature. I’m thankful for all those who have supported me in this venture, from the guys who submit stories to the folks who read those stories to the folks who share those stories through various forms of social media and word of mouth. I’m thankful for good beer, good food, and a good place to take an afternoon nap. I’m thankful for the Cubs and the muse the team has provided over the last couple of years now.
@DEvanAltman This embrace has been in the works for too long. Thanks for all you do. pic.twitter.com/eeebK3QM0M

Now get back to your pie and turkey sandwiches.
