Five South Bend Cubs Make Midwest League All-Star Team

Today, the South Bend Cubs announced that catcher Cael Brockmeyer, outfielder Charcer Burks, shortstop Gleyber Torres, starting pitcher Jeremy Null, and closer James Farris have all been named to participate in the 51st Midwest League All-Star Classic on June 23 at Dozer Park in Peoria, Illinois. This is a great honor as the managers select the players. In addition, Brockmeyer, Burks, and Torres will start the game.

All three position players are having a great year. Brockmeyer is batting .284 with 3 HR’s and 24 RBI’s, Burks is at .282 with 15 SB’s, and Torres is at .318 with a team leading 30 RBI’s.

Null had an outstanding April (2-0, 0.79 ERA) and was the Cubs organizational pitcher for the month. His May was also very good as he went 3-1 with a 2.57 ERA.

In the closer role, Farris had a 0.79 ERA with 6 saves in 7 opportunities in May. He has also struck out 30 in 21 innings on the year.

Congratulations to all!
