Quantifying Hope: Cubs Enter Weekend Trailing Pirates by 10 Points

I was going to punt on this week altogether, but decided to just post a quickie late instead. The Cubs enter their weekend series with the Pirates, which is funny because Pittsburgh is only a game up in the standings. What’s more, the whole division is separated by only two games going into Friday’s games. That means this series could really create a little upheaval if one team is able to sweep, as it’s the only divisional matchup taking place.

We all understand that nothing is going to be determined by April 12, but we also understand that digging their hole deeper isn’t helpful for the Cubs. This column should start to beef up a little in two weeks, at which point we’ll be a month into the season.
