Watch: Home Plate Ump at Wrigley Complains That ‘Damn Crowd’s Too Damn Loud’
With Nico Hoerner batting in the top of the 2nd during the Cubs’ win over the Nationals on Saturday, home plate umpire Jim Wolf thought Nats Drew Millas had called for a review of a ball call. Wolf left his mic on, so you could hear Millas clarifying that he simply hadn’t heard the call and wanted to make sure it was indeed a ball. Then you hear Wolf jokingly complain about the volume of the fans.

The crowd was so loud that the catcher couldn’t hear the call from the umpire standing just over his shoulder. In the 2nd inning of the second game of the season.
