Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (3/12/26): Cubs 7, Mariners 4 – Cabrera Sharp Again In Victory
The Cubs entertained the Mariners Sloan Park on Thursday afternoon with the regular season just about two weeks away. The home squad went ahead in the middle innings and held on the rest of the way to get the win.
Edward Cabrera got the start for Chicago and did well, giving up only one run on an RBI groundout in 3.2 innings of work. Ian Happ gave his team the lead with a two-run double in the bottom of the 3rd that made the score 2-1.
The North Siders added on with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Nico Hoerner in the bottom of the 5th inning. They blew the game open with four more in the 7th, including a solo home run by Chas McCormick and a two-run double from Devin Ortiz that increased the advantage to 7-1.
Seattle cut into the deficit with a three-run home run in the top of the 8th inning, but it was not enough and Chicago was victorious 7-4. (Box score)
Key Moment
The big 7th inning provided the Cubs enough cushion to hold on for the win.
Why the Cubs Won
The offense was productive and all the pitchers, except for one near the end of the game, did a good job.
Stats That Matter
- Cabrera gave up four hits and struck out three in his outing.
- Michael Busch had a pair of singles in this one.
- B.J. Murray got on base twice, including a double.
