Cubs Option Eli Morgan, Jordan Wicks to AAA
Eli Morgan and Jordan Wicks were optioned to Triple-A Iowa today, according to a team announcement.

While the moves surprised some, these options make a ton of sense roster-wise. They’d rather keep Wicks stretched out as a starting pitcher, which wasn’t going to happen in Chicago as things currently stand.
Morgan has options remaining, something that is quite rare in the Cubs bullpen. Therefore, optioning him gives someone like Brad Keller a spot to prove himself further.
