Chicago Cubs Lineup (6/18/24): Hoerner Leads Off, Bote at 3B, Steele Starting
Sorry for those of you hoping to see Owen Caissie, but Miles Mastrobuoni is back in Chicago because Mike Tauchman is going on the IL with a Grade 2 left groin strain that could take about a month to heal. Alexander Canario wasn’t an option because he left a recent I-Cubs game with an apparent injury, in case you were wondering whether this is just bad luck or the result of any number of deities hating the Cubs.
Justin Steele is on the mound and it probably doesn’t matter how well or poorly he pitches because that’s just how things are working these days. I’m not going to bother typing out the lineup because that doesn’t seem to matter either. They’re up against Logan Webb, who would be played by a de-aged Michael Rooker if someone ever sees fit to film a biopic.
Webb may very well launch a Cy Young case based on his results tonight, though even getting shelled will just set the stage for a Giants comeback.
First pitch is at 7:05pm CT on Marquee and 670 The Score.
Here is tonight’s #Cubs starting lineup at Wrigley Field.
