David Bote Reportedly Back with Cubs
Though there hasn’t been any official word yet from the Cubs, multiple fans have spotted David Bote at Wrigley Field this morning. Because he’s not on the 40-man roster, the Cubs would have to clear space by designating someone for assignment or moving an injured player to the 60-day IL.

That someone in the first situation most likely Nick Madrigal, who, in addition to being a central figure in Friday’s loss, has simply not played well for the Cubs aside from a short streak here and there. It’s also possible they just option Madrigal and move Adbert Alzolay to the 60-day.
If we’re being completely honest, Bote hasn’t played very well at the MLB level outside of some very big moments. But hey, what have the Cubs got to lose at this point? More on this as it develops.
Update: Bote has been selected from Triple-A Iowa with Madrigal optioned and Alzolay moved to the 60-day IL.
