Chicago Cubs Lineup (9/6/22): Miley Returns, Reyes Batting Cleanup, Ortega in Center
Wade Miley returns tonight after being activated off the IL to pitch in just his fifth game this season with the Cubs. It’s a stark contrast to what was expected from Miley to start the season but injuries have held him back.
Miley has been very good this season when he’s been healthy. Over just 19.0 innings pitched, he’s allowed six earned runs while walking eight and striking out twelve. Sure, it’s a small sample size but it’s right in line with what we’d expect to see from Miley over a larger stretch. That is to say, more of the same tonight and in his remaining starts would be a reasonable expectation.
Nick Madrigal leads off again tonight playing second, Seiya Suzuki is in right, Ian Happ is in left, Franmil Reyes is DH, and Nico Hoerner is at short. Rafael Ortega continues to inexplicably hold down a roster spot, he’s playing center, Yan Gomes is catching, Alfonso Rivas is at first, and Christopher Morel is at third.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm CT from beautiful and historic Wrigley Field.
