Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/14/21): Happ Leads Off, Bote at 2B, Williams Starting
Ian Happ will play center and lead off a lineup of regulars Sunday as the Cubs welcome Joe Maddon and the Angels to Sloan Park. Joc Pederson is next in left, followed by Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo. Javy Báez bats fifth, then it’s Jason Heyward, David Bote at second, Nico Hoerner as the DH, and P.J. Higgins catching.
Trevor Williams makes his third spring start as he continues to settle into his new role in the Cubs rotation after several seasons with rival Pittsburgh. The righty has been excellent so far, allowing one run and striking out six while walking just one over five innings. He’s working to better sequence his pitches and/or to change the shape of his slider to create more horizontal movement, so watch for that if you get the chance.
First pitch is at 3:05pm CT, which is an hour later than most spring starts due to the daylight most of the country just saved. Arizona has no need for such trifles and now finds itself further separated from those of us to the east. Marquee Sports Network has the television coverage of this one and 670 The Score will carry the radio call, which makes the game feel a little more real.
