Though the original deadline has come and gone, both the league and the players union are engaged in mutual discussions with reports saying there are no major hurdles remaining. The union has informed the league that players plan to report to “spring” training by July 1 to prepare for a 60-game season that should commence around three weeks later.
Source: union has informed MLB plan is for players to be in spring training by 7/1 and play the 60-g season, both proposed by MLB. Sides have NOT finalized health/safety protocols, but working on it.

In between dad jokes, Joel Sherman referred to the eventual agreement as a “living document.” Rather than insinuating that people can misinterpret and subjectively apply its content, something the owners are almost certain to do, Sherman is saying that it will have to be updated in real time as new best practices are developed.
Trevor Bauer is probably going to want his freedom of speech protected so he can drone on to his heart’s content. I’m also hearing word that the Reds are pushing for an amendment to the document that will grant them the right to bare arms.

We should get more updates on the situation soon, but it appears by all accounts that Major League Baseball will be back in business in just over a week.
