Chicago Cubs Lineup (2/26/20): Bryant Leads Off, Kipnis DH, Hoerner at 2B, Hendricks Pitching

The Cubs have alternated lineups to an extent this spring, going with more everyday starters every other day as they ramp up into full action. Wednesday’s order actually feels a lot like what we might see during the regular season, maybe for an interleague game on the road since they’re using the DH.

Kris Bryant once again leads off at third base, Anthony Rizzo is at first, and Javy Báez plays short. Jason Heyward cleans up in right, Victor Caratini is behind the dish, and Steven Souza Jr. gets some time in left. Albert Almora Jr. looks to continue his hot start in center, Jason Kipnis is the DH, and Nico Hoerner wraps things up at second.

Kyle Hendricks will be on the mound for the first time this spring as he tries to become the first Cubs starter to record more than three outs in Cactus League play. Don’t get your hopes up for a typical lecture, as Professor Hendricks will likely be working on some remedial topics in this one.

He’ll give way to a group of relievers led by Alec Mills and Kyle Ryan, with Jharel Cotton, Trevor Megill, Ben Taylor, and Oscar De La Cruz also scheduled to throw. There may be another minor leaguer or two brought on in case David Ross needs to fill in some gaps.

First pitch from Sloan Park is scheduled for 2:05pm CT and can be viewed on Marquee Sports Network or MLB.tv, the latter of which doesn’t black out spring games. You can do a free trial and have access to live games for a week without paying, but you’ll want to pull the plug once the regular season starts because it’s $24.99/month after that.

DirecTV has Marquee now, though in-market subscribers may need to refresh their software through their app if they’re not getting it yet. Hulu+Live will have the network by Opening Day and we’ve reached out to them for clarity on timing. There’s been no word from YouTube TV, but we’ve likewise reached out there. Comcast is the biggie, and they told Cubs Insider that negotiations are ongoing and there’s still time to work something out by March 26.
